Safer Business Network launches Safer Tottenham

Safer Business Network is delighted to announce Safer Tottenham as the latest addition to our BCRP family. Our newest BCRP is the first of our ‘local’ schemes, and has been introduced into Bruce Grove, Tottenham in partnership with Tottenham Traders Partnership (TPP) and Haringey council.

As with all our other successful Partnerships, we will be working closely with the business community in Bruce Grove, and with the police, council and other invested stakeholders to reduce crime, violence and disorder which has a negative impact on business profitability, and the look and feel of our Town Centre.

Hannah Wadey, Joint Chief Executive Officer for Safer Business Network, said:

“Safer Business Network is delighted to be working with Haringey council to introduce our latest Partnership into Tottenham. I am fully confident that by working together, we will have a positive impact in reducing business crime and supporting local trade in the coming months and years ahead.”

Cllr Gideon Bull, Cabinet Member for Local Investment and Economic Growth, said:

“The Safer Tottenham BCRP will be an essential part of modern-day crime control, driving down low-level crime and ASB in the area, and helping police deliver their obligation to prevent and detect low-level crime at a time when they have substantially reduced community policing.

“With the app, this will make it far easier for local businesses to report crime, which will make a big difference in helping us reduce crime and disorder in Tottenham and Bruce Grove.”

Cllr Mark Blake, Cabinet Member for Communities, said:

“Small businesses play a vital role in our economy but are sometimes held back from reaching their full potential due to criminal and anti-social behaviour. I am pleased to see the creation of a BCRP in Tottenham to highlight solutions to this deeply concerning problem.

“In bringing together community partners, we can ensure that this complex challenge is tackled with the urgency and teamwork it demands to protect our local businesses and make our communities safer.”

The Partnership is managed by Safer Business Network’s Alessandra Valencic who has successfully delivered an award winning BCRP in Lewisham. She brings a great deal of experience and skill to the area, and is already seeing some promising results.

Alessandra Valencic, BCRP Manager, Safer Tottenham said:

“'The secret of a successful BCRP sits with the business community and we are pleased that Bruce Grove members have already shown great engagement, knowledge of the issues and willingness to be an active part of the change we are here to make.”

As part of this new BCRP, we will introduce expert staff, a range of crime prevention training tailored for the Bruce Grove area, and for the first time, the widely used and successful crime management & intelligence gathering app offered by SentrySIS.

Chris Nriapia, Director, SentrySIS said:

“We are really pleased to be working with Safer Business Network, Haringey Council and the range of community partners who are responsible for the creation of the Safer Tottenham BCRP. Our technology will help businesses in Bruce Grove to be better informed about low level crime and anti-social behaviour as well as the ability to report it. This will have a significant impact on the reduction of business crime in the town centre and will help lower the demand on local community policing. Ultimately, we have no doubt that the partnership will make the area a safer place for everyone”.

We are confident our new ‘local’ BCRP model in Tottenham is going to be one of many for Safer Business Network as we develop our tried and tested model further across London in the future.
