Home Office Right to Work Checks Updated
We have been asked by the Home Office to update businesses with information on the Right to Work Check List process during the COVID-19 crisis.
UPDATE FROM HOME OFFICE RE: RIGHT TO WORK CHECKS
From 30 March 2020 Right to Work checks have been temporarily adjusted to make it easier for employers to carry them out during the coronavirus outbreak.
Until further notice;
employers do not need to see original documents
prospective and current employees can submit scanned copies/photos of documents (via email or mobile app)
employers should undertake a check via video call to verify the person looks like their ID
If someone doesn’t have the right documentation to demonstrate their right to work, employers should contact the Employer Checking Service.
