Hard Work in Bromley Pays Off
Safer Business Network, through its SBN link+ package, has been working with Your Bromley BID and its business community since September 2021 and we are pleased to announce our first Exclusion Notice from Bromley Businesses Against Crime has been issued on the 13th of June 2022.
In January, we were made aware of an individual committing theft offences within the town centre. Businesses submitted enough intelligence onto DISC to allow our team to build a very specific picture of the offender: a prolific shoplifter, who goes around equipped with detaggers and cutters, who steals from different premises and then sells the stolen goods on. We shared his profile with businesses via alerts and news articles, gathering enough intel to issue him with an exclusion notice, demonstrating the power of intelligence sharing.
An exclusion notice withdraws the tacit consent to enter any Bromley Businesses Against Crime (BBAC) premises for one year based on intelligence gathered within the business community, and a formal letter to notify the offender will be sent out. An exclusion notice is a civil injunction, that, if breached, will give us enough evidence to enquire to the police for further enforcement and actions to be taken.
We are proud of the hard work Bromley businesses have shown in the past months to collect intel on this individual, responding to our appeals for information, and sharing relevant incidents with us and the police.
